Deep Freeze

It seems there's a huge storm about to hit the Northeast this evening, which will last till tomorrow night. We're spending much of today under 10ºF, which is about -10ºC, and there are between 3 inches and 2 feet forecast over the 24+ hours the storm will be upon us. I'm incredibly excited, seeing as we had a pitiful amount of snow for last year's Winter Carnival. In the midst of that I will be trekking over to bake a cake for Maya, whose birthday is tomorrow.

Other observations: My brother is on a plane bound for Melbourne as I write. No clue when I next get to see him... and I haven't seen him since Aug 20, 2005. May his uni experience rival mine (but there's no way it can beat Williams. ha. ha. ha.). Also, my Philosophy TA doesn't like my diction - circled a couple of words in my short paper last week. E.g. something on Descartes needing to throw out his preconceptions of the world, "preconceptions" was the word with which fault was found. I think it's justified though - Descartes wants to establish a new foundation of certainty on which to base his new, indubitable system of belief, but to do that he must excise all beliefs that can be doubted. Are those beliefs not preconceptions, as he has not really properly studied the world, or been able to without depending on these preconceptions?

Fried rice time! How do you spell rice in Hokkien without it looking silly? I'm still wondering.
