Friendless

I have to wonder a little about how much I have to come home to.

My family (cat included) and house aside, Penang is less and less the place where I grew up. The food is largely the same, as are the roads, but the skyline keeps having new things added to it, while the population of my acquaintances here keeps having bits taken away. Heck, even the people who've come home on vacation aren't home, but are rather off in KL with internships.

Not that I begrudge them their absence. They have things to do, people to see. It just irks me that I don't. Have many that are nearby at any rate.

Yay for the internet age. As that makes the world smaller, people take the opportunities opened up by the shortened distances and bugger off. The best part is, then they're too busy with things they've found to do to use the internet to keep in touch. Dammit!

And now I'll stop talking about myself.

Know the feeling, actually. Some species of culture shock returning into once too-familiar places / faces...

Heya, came across your blog via Tinkosong.com =)

I heartily echo your sentiments. It's just so odd 'going back' to Penang (for, coincidentally, I hail from the island as well). In fact, since this summer, I've taken to saying I'm "going back to the UK". Sigh.

Oh well. We all gotta set out on our own journeys sometime :) All the best across the Atlantic, btw!
