Conceit

Me being a vainpot (it's been ages since I used that word), I google my name every once in a while. I've never searched for the Chinese characters, though. Without chars, I get 610 items for "teng jian", mostly unrelated, 7 for "khoo teng jian", mostly from PFS and 10 for "teng jian khoo", mostly duplicates and all from Williams. Googling 鼎堅 resulted in about 28000 items (the first one is some person who lives in Taiwan...), but 邱鼎堅 gave none at all. Actually, I know of another Khoo Teng Jian currently at PFS, who was previously at SKBL. A mite creepy. You get his name in some MSSPP swimming meet I think, if you search. Different characters? Seems unlikely, since Teng is a generational name. Not that I have any reason for believing it would only be followed by my Jian.

Anyway, I was curious to see if the English-Chinese web dictionary I often consult had the ding3jian1 compound in it (transliterated into pinyin). It doesn't, but the sole entry with identical pronunciation is no encouragement for humility, it seems. Heh heh heh.
