I complained about the 14 hours it took to get to South Bend from Williamstown. I arrived back today after 29 hours since yesterday at 9am.
(LIttle diversion - the sun is setting in the (south-)west as I look to the north, and the moon is staring back at me over the mountains basking in the same light that turns the purple mountains gold [woohoo! complementary colour!]. It's also visibly changing position every time I look up. It's not usually so easy to notice, although I've seen that happen with sunsets. And now back to our main feature...)
Chronology of my return to Williams:
9.00 am Eastern time, depart 925 S Esther St, South Bend, Indiana
9.20 am arrive at SB airport, board train
9.40 am depart for Millenium Station, Chicago.
11.00 am Central time (12 noon Eastern) arrive in Chicago, transfer to CTA brown line and then blue line.
12.15 pm arrive at O'Hare Airport, check in for flights to Albany
2.45 pm flight leaves for Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
5.30 pm, Eastern time, arrive in Pittsburgh
7.50 pm, with 10 minutes to boarding, note that flight has been cancelled, announcement follows. Am rebooked for 7.30 am flight to Albany. Hyatt Hotel 'special rate' offered - $99 for the night. Prefer to stay in the airport, but am offered lodging by a Williams junior (thank goodness for college sweatshirts)
8.30 pm? Plane should be leaving, I reach a house in Pittsburgh. Checking williamstransport website, am notified that the first motorcoach to Williams from Albany airport is at 1.30 and is fully booked, plus has a waitlist.
5.40 am depart house, enter airport security at about 6.30 am
7.30 am depart Pittsburgh for Albany
8.53 am arrive in Albany airport. Sit. Listen to music. Talk to other arrived Williams students. Drop cheese dog.
1.30 pm motorcoach arrives, has just enough space to fit me and a few other students with reservations on later buses.
2.45 pm arrive at Williams.
I should really have gone home for Christmas.
