Conversation... circumlocution... much the same really,
You converse, talking idly where nothing really need be said,
He talks, says things unnecessary too, but with purpose,
Details, the devil's in the details,
Many details he gives, yes,
You listen, nod, ask, he answers,
Never lies, no, no falsehoods in his words,
Doesn't reply with a question, that's suspicious,
Just details, irrelevant details - but not to you,
You find connections, join the dots,
He cracks his whip, says jump, you leap...
To conclusions, false, merely implied,
Nothing stated outright, only implied, implied all the way,
He tells the truth, you merely...
Miss the point, as desired - that was the point,
Trust him? Never! Believe every word he says - do,
It's all the truth, well selected truth,
He's chosen well, you've missed the point,
Job well done on his part,
It was for a good cause, a little white lie,
Better that you don't know - better for everyone.
